Summary
Argentina had 1.5 million internet connections at the end of 2006, consisting of 1 million broadband and 0.5 million dial-up connections.
We anticipate strong growth in the Argentinean internet market over the next five years driven by improvements in infrastructure coverage and cheaper broadband tariffs. Over the next five years we expect greater take-up of services by the lower classes, as awareness of broadband-enabled internet services grow. Over the coming years, we also expect consumers to migrate to faster connection speeds. However, broadband APRU is anticipated to mildly decline to 2011 as operators offer more competitive tariffs. We envisage IPTV viewing to grow along with broadband adoption, but remain at a low absolute level. We expect dial-up services to decline due to widespread coverage and affordability of broadband services.
