Summary
This IDC study intends to look at the general urban broadband users and further profile them by probing into their most common online activities. With information gathered during the Philippines Fixed Line Consumer Survey conducted from July 26, 2007 to August 15, 2007, which is a structured end-user survey of Internet users, this study explores the profiles of the four cluster groups of urban broadband users that were identified using cluster analysis of survey results.
"IDC encourages service providers (SPs) to package and position their services according to activities and practices of the various online users. In time, as needs and requirements of users turn complex, other offers like VoIP or Internet Protocol television (IPTV) may then be offered in the market. Surpassing the current trend of bundling broadband with a free phone line, SPs can package in multiple services in order to maintain loyalty and gain new subscribers for their market,"says Catherine Foronda, analyst, Communications, IDC Philippines.
