IDC's definition of next-generation access includes four technologies - very-high-speed digital subscriber line (VDSL), point-to-point Ethernet (EP2P), passive optical networking (PON), and DOCSIS 3.0 cable services. This study includes total broadband and next-generation access market size data by country and technology at the end of September 2010, and an update on next-generation access deployments and plans, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
