Summary

According to report, slide-type handsets are most popular among the Korean users, while clamshell-type handsets are most popular in Japan (62.7%) and bar-type handsets are most popular in China (45.8%). The Mobile Device Convergence Report 1H, 2006 analyzes handsets in Korea, China and Japan, including all models launched in the first half of 2006.

There are distinctive differences in terms of functions, technologies, designs and value added services between these Asian countries. The report provides detailed information on mobile devices launched in each country and, by using the publisher unique evaluation method, evaluates and forecasts the evolution level of mobile devices in Korea, China and Japan.

For the report, 21 manufacturers and 269 models launched in Korea, China and Japan were analyzed. In measuring the convergence level of a mobile device from a different standpoint, characteristics of the main functions supported by a mobile device are matched with the invariant classification system of Value Added Services and a relative evaluation is carried out in each country to understand the characteristics.
