Summary
This IDC Insight analyzes telecommunications companies' advanced home phones, offering new features aimed to integrate more deeply into customers' lives. IDC compares Verizon's Hub, AT&T's HomeManager, and Embarq's eGo and evaluates the potential effectiveness of these phones in preventing consumers from cutting the cord to rely on wireless-only service. Comcast's Enhanced Cordless Telephone, which is currently in trials, is discussed briefly in this document. It will be analyzed in more detail in future research.
Note: Embarq was acquired by CenturyTel in 4Q08. However, IDC will continue to refer to the company as "Embarq" and treat it as a separate entity until the merger has been completed.
