Usage of Mobile Data Services by Business An End-User Survey, 2006

The focus of the study is a survey of 650 small, small to medium, medium, and large businesses operating in Europe, summarized as small (50-99 employees), small to medium (100-499 employees), medium (500-999 employees), and large (>1,000 employees). The survey covers the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark.

Results and analysis are provided for all eight countries surveyed, and are further broken down by country, company size, and industry sector.

The information provided in this study is essential reading for mobile operators, system integrators, handset vendors, and any other player in the mobile market that is interested in the enterprise sector.

The study will provide these companies with essential survey results and analysis on how European businesses receive mobile operator services, and the adoption rates and future purchase plans of small, medium, and large organizations.

"As mobile data services become increasingly important to businesses, the understanding of the necessities and concerns of the enterprise market is pivotal," said to Rosie Secchi, senior research analyst at IDC's European wireless and mobile communications group. "The know-how of IT managers toward key mobile services such as mobile email, presence services, security, and converged offerings will have a major influence on the adoption of mobile data solutions. In helping them, mobile providers should not just try and mobilize one single business application -this is only a good path to follow in the short term -but should also look at the bigger picture and consider mobilizing a suite of business applications in order to capture a bigger slice of the enterprise market."
