WAN Manager Survey 2010 Attitudes of Enterprises in the Middle East and Africa To Unified Communications and Network Convergence

This IDC study provides insight into the use of unified communications (UC) services and technologies, while also taking into account the status of voice and data network convergence, in the Middle East and Africa (MEA). Based on a survey of 430 businesses across MEA, the study suggests the lagging adoption of unified communications is expected to pick up in the region. Nevertheless, providers of UC solutions face challenges in MEA, such as fragile economies and conservative trends in service adoption.

"Unified communications technology can offer functionalities that may particularly benefit companies operating in MEA, providing increased workforce mobility, rationalization of both network design and communications services spending, and seamless integration into global business processes. However, proposing a business case in this market will not be easy." – Research Manager Andy Hicks, Communications, IDC CEMA.
