In 2006, there were total 77,400 aircrafts landing and departure from Xiamen International Airport, up 15.43% year-on-year; the passenger throughput was 7.502 million person times, up 13.92% from a year earlier, ranking the 11th place in China; and the cargo throughput was 175,000 tons, increasing 10.25% over 2005.

By Feb, 2007, Xiamen International Airport had established air traffic with 82 urban airports in China and world at large, including 60 domestic cities, 18 foreign cities and 4 regional cities. In addition, there were 12 domestic airlines and 21 international airlines had put into operation in Xiamen International Airport, and it had operated 148 passenger and cargo airlines in China and the world, covering 111 domestic airlines, 31 international airlines and 6 regional airlines.
