This IDC study analyzes the adoption of enterprise mobility management (EMM) software by worldwide and United States-based small and medium-sized business (SMB) customers. The forecast comprises total vendor revenue generated from SMB customers and is segmented by company size: micro (<10 employees) small (10-99 employees), and medium sized (100-999 employees). Data for 2012-2014 is actual, and data for 2015-2019 is forecast.
This study discusses the key market trends impacting the SMB market and examines the key market challenges and competitive dynamics for both the United States and worldwide. Since this study is specifically on the SMB market, enterprise adoption is excluded, as is education and government, as well as any additional country or geographies.
"IDC has chosen to start to forecast the SMB side of the EMM market simply because of its growing relevance outside of the traditional enterprise-size customer space. Since almost all EMM vendors have a public cloud delivery option, EMM has become much more accessible to smaller customers, and we predict that the market will grow quickly to slightly less than 50% of total EMM revenue by 2019. It behooves any vendor operating in the space to develop and maintain a global SMB strategy." -- Chris Chute, vice president, SMB Cloud and Mobility Practice
