This IDC study covers datacenter facilities that consist of equipment other than the IT products within datacenters, including buildings, electrical equipment, and cooling equipment. The highlights of this study are the markets for new construction/expansion and the maintenance/upgrades of datacenter facilities. The study presents estimates and forecasts of the sizes of these markets. It covers commercial and enterprise datacenters deployed in Japan.
Because there will be more DC facilities even after a quarter-century has passed since their construction, IDC predicts that the market for maintenance/upgrades will expand. However, because of the rising construction costs, the cost of facility renovation is likewise increasing. "DC facility providers will need to offer facility renovation solutions that are highly effective at improving the operational efficiency of datacenters," explains Mimei Ito, research manager, IT Services, IDC Japan.
