The Ithaca Energy Inc (IAE) is undertaking the construction of Greater Stella Area Development project in the UK.

The project involves the construction of five subsea wells on Stella and two subsea wells on Harrier, tied back via in-field flowlines to the FPF-1.

It includes the construction of floating production unit, platforms, storage and offloading vessel, gas-liquid separation systems, and infrastructural related facilities, and the drilling subsea wells, and the laying of pipelines.

The development solution will involve the use of the FPF-1 semi-submersible floating production unit, formerly known as the "AH001" that was previously used on the Hess operated Ivanhoe / Rob Roy North Sea oil fields. The FPF-1 is currently 100% owned by Petrofac Ltd.

The FPF-1 will be modified to process oil and gas from the GSA Fields and will be located in the vicinity of the Stella field. The processing capacity of the vessel will be 38,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) and 85 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) of gas.

Petrofac is preparing a development concept for the project and will submit a Stella / Harrier Field Development Plan to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) at the end of 2011.

The overall value of the GSA is further enhanced by a secure processing solution for Hurricane and Helios, following their appraisal, and provides the opportunity to unlock other undeveloped discoveries in the area.

In October 2011, Andrew Palmer and Associates was contracted to provide the front-end engineering design for EPC Offshore Ltd. in support of Ithaca Energy’s Greater Stella Area Development.

The Company is in advanced discussions with potential drilling rig providers, with a view to securing a suitable rig to commence the Stella / Harrier development drilling campaign in late 2012.

In April 2012, IAE secured approval from the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change.

In July 2012, Technip SA was appointed as EPIC contractor for the project.

FTI Consulting LLP has been appointed as legal advisor.

The subsea EPIC contract includes detailed design and installation of the two 10-inch oil and gas pipelines, design, manufacture and installation of the umbilicals, Installation of manifolds, subsea structures, flexible pipelines and spool pieces, Installation of the mooring system for the FPF-1 and the design and installation of a five-slot mid water arch.

In November 2012, detailed design was completed for the subsea infrastructure.

In March 2014, drilling of the third development well has commenced, and installation of subsea infrastructure is expected to begin in April, culminating in the hookup of the FPF-1 and risers.

On August 19, 2016, FPF-1 reached its final location at the Stella field.

In October 6, 2016, the project is in its final stages of construction.

In December 2016, construction works on FPF-1 are near completion.

In February 2017, construction works on FPF-1 were completed.

Construction activities are underway.

The project involves the construction of five subsea wells on Stella and two subsea wells on Harrier, tied back via in-field flow lines to the FPF-1 in the Central North Sea, east-southeast of Aberdeen, the UK.

The US$600 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of a floating production unit
2. Construction of platforms
3. Construction of storage and offloading vessel
4. Construction of gas-liquid separation systems
5. Construction of infrastructural related facilities
6. Drilling of subsea wells
7. Laying of pipelines
