Summary The Telangana State Generation Corporation (TSGENCO) is undertaking the construction of a thermal power plant in Telangana, India.
The project involves the construction of 800MW coal-fired thermal power plant. It includes the construction of coal washing unit, water transmission pipeline, raw water storage tanks, switch yard for power evacuation, powerhouse and substation, the installation of turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
In October 2014, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) signed a memorandum of understating (MoU) with TSGENCO to undertake the project on engineering, construction, and procurement (EPC) basis.
In January 2015, BHEL was awarded the US$601 million EPC contract.
On January 9, 2015, TSGENCO submitted a detailed project report to the government.
On January 24, 2015, the project obtained environmental clearance approvals from National Board for Wildlife.
On July 28, 2015, the project received approval from the Union Ministry for Forests and Environment to proceed with the construction of the project.
On August 11, 2015, TRF was appointed as the supply contractor for the stacker along with reclaimer package.
In October 2015, Punj Lloyd was appointed as enabling contractor. The scope of works includes civil, structural and architectural work of the non-plant works and raw water reservoir, roads, and drains.
Construction activities are underway and scheduled to be completed in December 2017.
