The Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) is undertaking to construct Little Hadham bypass road in Hertfordshire, the UK.

The project involves the construction of 3.9km road west of the Tesco roundabout in Bishop’s Stortford, goes north of Little Hadham.

It includes the construction of three bridges, access roads, pedestrian ways and related infrastructure, and the installation of the safety systems.

Environment Agency has been appointed as an environmental consultant.

In July 2012, a joint venture between Opus and Arup was appointed as the consultant for highway network management services.

In May 2013, HCC’s cabinet approved the initial priority list.

The majority of the funding for the scheme US$28 million was secured from the Local Transport Body (LTB) in principle, subject to gaining the relevant permissions. The LTB is a partnership between HCC, Hertfordshire’s Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the Hertfordshire Infrastructure Planning Partnership.

In the second quarter of 2014, Environment Agency and HCC carried out surveys.

In November 2015, HCC submitted a planning application to the East Herts District Council (EHDC). In November 2016, HCC modified the planning application and submitted to EHDC.

In December 2016, the Development Control Committee voted unanimously to recommend approval

of the planning application for the A120 Bypass.

In January 2017, the project secured planning approval.

On January 12, 2018, tender was issued with a submission deadline of February 28, 2018.

Land acquisition and tender activities are underway simultaneously. Construction is expected to commence in February 2018.
