The Tampa Bay Rays Baseball Ltd. (Rays) plans to undertake the Tampa Bay Ray waterfront baseball stadium project in Florida, the US.

The project involves the construction of a new baseball stadium on 34.4ha of land. It includes the construction of a fitness center, a new press box for media and game operations, a stadium lounge, new elevated concourses, restrooms, retail space, office space, park space, an administrative space, and parking and other related facilities.

In January 2016, Rays obtained approval to explore stadium options across the Tampa Bay area seeking potential sites in Pinellas County, Tampa and the rest of Hillsborough County.

On February 23, 2016, City Development Administration (CDA), issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) for the procurement of master planner for the redevelopment of the stadium site with March 25, 2016, as documents submission due to date and 15 companies have submitted the redevelopment plans.

On April 8, 2016, the CDA selection committee shortlisted seven teams and announced HKS Architects was ranked first among seven finalists on April 22, 2016. The remaining shortlisted teams include ASD/Sky, CallisonRTKL, Gensler, HR&A Advisors, Littlejohn and Stantec Consulting Services.

In June 2016, CDA approved the professional services agreement between the City of St. Petersburg and HKS Architects, Inc. for master planning services for the redevelopment of the Tropicana Field property.

HKS Architects will provide master planning services for the redevelopment of the Tropicana Field property under two different scenarios.

Scenario 1 - the redevelopment of the property with a new ballpark for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Scenario 2 - the redevelopment of the property without a ballpark.

The master plan scope consists of three phases: Analysis, Explorations, and the Conceptual Master Plan.

The Analysis phase intends to familiarise the Consultant with physical, infrastructure, and market conditions of the property, as well as engage with the community and key stakeholder.

The Explorations phase is intended to establish the framework for the preparation of a conceptual master plan for the redevelopment of the Tropicana Field property for Scenario 1.

The Conceptual Master Plan phase is the creation of the master plan for the redevelopment of the Tropicana Field property for Scenario 1.

In July 2016, Pinellas County Commission has identified 17 potential sites, which have been listed geographically from south to north. The sites includes Airco Golf Course site, Cheezem property site, Clearwater Cay site, Derby Lane, Glasbrenner site, Kenyon Dodge dealership site, Orange Blossom Grove/Norris dealership site, Oldsmar Race Track Road site, Showtime (formerly Sunshine) Speedway, Tropicana Field, Al Lang Stadium, Albert Whitted Airport, Bridgeway Acres Landfill, Carillon Town Center, Former sod farm, Snug Harbor, and Toytown.

Populous has been appointed as Architect.

In February 2018, Rays chosen Ybor City site for new ballpark.

Planning activities are underway.
