Canadian Natural Resources Ltd (CNRL) is planning to undertake the construction of an oil sands project in Alberta, Canada.

The project involves the construction of a central processing facility to produce 40,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil (bitumen). It will also include the construction of well pads, source water and disposal well sites, roads, a bitumen processing facility and related infrastructure, the installation of monitoring systems, and the laying of pipelines and power lines.

On April 15, 2011, CNRL submitted a joint regulatory application and environmental impact assessment (EIA) to the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) and Alberta Environment (AENV).

On February 29, 2012, CNRL filed an application and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the regional approval.

The EIA was deemed complete by Alberta Environment and Parks (formerly ESRD – Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development) on March 6, 2015.
