Summary
The City of Malibu (CoM) is undertaking the construction of the Civic Center Wastewater treatment Plant in California, the US.

The project involves the construction of a waste water treatment plant, which will be developed in phases.

The first phase includes the construction of membrane filtration, biological reactions, and ultraviolet light to treat up to 190,000 gallons (719,228.24 liters) of wastewater per day.

The project also includes the construction of waste recycling unit, storage tanks, pumping stations and related facilities, and the installation of sewer systems, equipment, and the laying of pipelines.

RMC Water and Environment has been appointed as engineering design consultant.

In December 2013, Environmental Impact Report (EIR) was prepared by city officials and approval for EIR is expected on July 28, 2014.

On June 12, 2014, the City re-circulated portions of the Draft EIR to correct errors and omissions made in the original Draft EIR.

In January 2015, EIR was approved by the City Council.

As of June 2015, Design works are completed and CoM is in process of reviewing the design submitted by RMC Water and Environment.

In August 2015, Bids were invited for the first phase. The bids received were more than the expected value and subsequently the bids were rejected in September 2015.

The project was divided to be bid in three packages due to the high bid response.

On October 8, 2015, bids were issued for the Pipelines and Pump Stations of first phase of the project with submission deadline on December 8, 2015.

On January 29, 2016, the City of Malibu issued a Request for Qualifications/Proposals (RFQ/P) to provide construction management services for the first phase of the project with submission deadline as February 19, 2016.

Myers and Sons Construction, L.P has been appointed as general contractor with US$22 million contract value, Vido Artukovich & Son, Inc and Vidmar, Inc. as contractor to undertake the construction of Pipelines and Pump Stations with US$20 million contract value, Cascade Drilling, LP as drilling contractor, and Mimiaga Engineering Group as management contractor for first phase.

On June 29, 2016, a groundbreaking ceremony was held and construction works commenced on first phase.

As of February 2018, electrical works and road works on the first phase are underway.
