Statoil ASA (STO), Petoro, ExxonMobil (XOM), Idemitsu Petroleum Norge (IPN), RWE and Core Energy (CE) are jointly planning to undertake the construction of Snorre 2040 Development project in Norway.

The project involves the construction six subsea templates with a total of 24 well slots.

It includes the construction of wellhead platform and protection frame and the installation of tie-in spools, umbilical protection frame, related machinery and safety equipment.

In October 2014, Wood Group Mustang was appointed as the engineering design contractor.

The project was delayed due to regulatory issues in March 2015.

In December 2016, Aibel was appointed as the front-end engineering design (FEED) contractor and the scope of the contract includes the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) in the implementation stage. The FEED works will take 1 year to complete.

Study activities were completed in the fourth quarter of 2016.

On April 11, 2017, Wood Group plc was appointed as an engineering design consultant.

In December 2017, TechnipFMC was awarded as an engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) contract for the project.

On December 21, 2017, Statoil submitted a plan for development and operation (PDO) of the Project.

On January 4, 2018, DeepOcean was awarded a contract for engineering, procurement of anchors for risers and umbilicals, project management, and offshore installation activities.

The scope of the contract includes (offshore work) installation of riser systems and umbilical systems and installation of six integrated subsea template structures and manifolds.
