JG Summit Holdings Inc., (JGSHI) subsidiaries JG Summit Petrochemical Corp (JGSPC) and JG Summit Olefins Corp. (JGSOC) are undertaking the construction of a petrochemical complex in Batangas City, the Philippines.

The project involves the construction of a petrochemical complex comprising three plants.

The first plant includes the construction of a petrochemical plant with a production capacity of 70,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of butadiene and 89,000MTPA of raffinate with an investment of US$200 million.

The second plant includes the construction of a petrochemical plant with a production capacity of 126,000MTPA of benzene, 76,000MTPA of toluene, 46,000MT of mixed xylene, 18,000MTPA of C8+/C9+ Cut and 29,000MTPA of C8+/C9+ Cut with an investment of US$260 million.

The third plant includes the expansion of naphtha cracker with a production capacity of 160,002MTPA of ethylene, 51,000MTPA of propylene, 26,418MTPA of mixed C4 and 78,876MTPA of py-gas with an investment of US$230 million.

The project includes the construction of a production unit, a storage unit, parking facilities and the installation of safety and security systems.

In December 2016, the Philippine Board of Investments (PBOI) approved the project under the preferred activities of the existing Investment Priorities Plan (IPP) with the endorsement of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

Funding will be provided from free cash flow from existing petrochemical business plus borrowings.

In October 2017, Fluor Corporation has been appointed as engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) contractor for the third plant of the project.

Pre-Construction activities on the third plant and Pre-design activities on the first and second plant are ongoing simultaneously.

Construction activities are slated for completion by the fourth quarter of 2020.
