Summary
The Howard Hughes Corporation (HHC) is undertaking the construction of the mixed-use complex in Columbia, Maryland, the US.

The project involves the construction of a 445,935m2 mixed-use community on 27.5ha of and being developed in phases.

It includes the construction of 2,300 residential units, a 250-room hotel, 29,078m2 of retail space, 20,903m2 of civic space comprising a library, an aquatics centre, a conference center and a concert hall, 137,032m2 of general and medical office space, 4,360 parking spaces and related facilities.

The first phase includes the construction of 148,645m2 of mixed-use facilities and will be developed in three parcels.

The first parcel is located on the corner of Little Patuxent Parkway and Broken Land Parkway, known as Area One, includes the construction of a office space with buildings up to 15-stories high comprising 4,645m2 of retail space and 4,230 parking spaces.

The second parcel is located at the corner of Hickory Ridge Road and Broken Land Parkway, known as Area Two, and includes the construction of a 13,935m2 medical office hub and 600 parking spaces.

The final one, is located on south of the Pavilion and bordering Broken Land Parkway, known as Area Three, includes the construction of 725 residential units, a 250-room hotel, 9,012m2 of retail and dining space, a 9,290m2 library, a 4,645m2 conference center, a 4,645m2 aquatics centre, a 2,323m2 concert hall and 1,200 to 1,900 parking spaces.

Gutschichk Little & Weber PA has been appointed as civil engineer, AEA Consulting as planner and Design Collective, Inc. (DCI), JP2 Architects as architect.

In June 2013, DCI presented the conceptual designs of the proposed plans.

On October 21, 2013, HHC held a pre-submission community meeting revealing the preliminary plans for the project.

HHC held a community meeting on the development on March 31, 2014.

On December 18, 2014, HHC acquired the project site for US$130 million.

On March 20, 2015, Howard County Planning Board (HCPB) approved final development plan for the project.

On March 26, 2015, HHC submitted plans for the first parcel of the project and seeking site plan approval.

In October 2015, HCPB approved the first phase of the project.

On November 17, 2017, HHC shared proposed the rendering to HCPB.

Construction works are underway.
