Final abutments go hand-in-hand with dental implants; the markets are nearly perfectly correlated. There is, however, a time lag corresponding to the sequence of an implant procedure, with final abutments often being placed months after the implant is placed. As the number of implant procedures continues to grow, the market for final abutments will as well. Given the general trend in the implant market towards inexpensive solutions (value and discount options), the market for stock abutments is still growing as stock abutments offer an inexpensive solution than alternatives. However, the stock abutment market is moving towards becoming a commodity-based market. There has been a large influx of imitation products which meet the standards of implant doctors. This phenomenon largely limits the extent to which this market can grow.

Abstract
A dental abutment is a metal piece that connects to a dental implant via an abutment screw. The abutment further functions as a connector between the implant and final outer crown placed on top of the implant. Often, a provincial abutment is administered, but ultimately it must be replaced by a final abutment to ensure a permanent solution. Abutments are offered in a variety of material types ranging including titanium, steel, ceramic, zirconia and even gold.
