Amines are organic compounds derived from ammonia by replacing one, two, or all three hydrogen atoms by organic groups. They are further classified as primary amines, secondary amines, and tertiary amines depending on the number of hydrogen atoms substituted by aryl or alkyl groups in the molecule. Amines are used in pesticides, cleaning products, personal care products, rubber, water treatment chemicals, lubricants, paints and coatings, and pharmaceuticals.
