World textile and clothing trade fell to US$799 bn in 2019 but it was still at its second highest level on record. The world’s biggest exporter of textiles in 2019 was China, followed by the EU and India.

China was also the world’s biggest exporter of clothing, followed by the EU and Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the EU was the world’s biggest importer of textiles, followed by the USA and Vietnam, and it was also the world’s biggest importer of clothing, followed by the USA and Japan.
