Tea tree oil has been used in traditional medicine in the belief it treats acne, nail fungus, or athlete’s foot, with little evidence to support these uses. Tea tree oil brings a higher rate of demand from the cosmetic industry due to its large-scale application in the production of shampoos, conditioners, skin clearing lotion, mouthwash, body lotions, shower gels, cleansing soap, deodorants, hand wash sanitizers, and face creams.

Many scientific studies have been conducted on the tea tree oil benefits and in these studies; they have tried to explain why tea tree oil is a beneficial essential oil. Recently, in one of the studies, it was proved that tea tree oil has the ability to fight against skin cancer. In the Journal of Dermatological Sciences, it was published that the tea tree oil has the capability to reduce the cancerous tumors and also helps in boosting immunity. The tea tree grows naturally in South Africa, however, currently; the number of commercial plantations has reduced. Much of the country’s output is wild harvested and can be certified as organic. Some young plantations have started but the output is relatively small on a global scale.
