Sweden’s Medical Products Agency (MPA) announced in September 2014 its decision to ban sales of acetaminophen tablets and capsules in all retail outlets other than chemists/pharmacies. The reason for this was an observed correlation between increased acetaminophen usage and a rise in acetaminophen-related poisoning incidents. The ban took effect from 1 November 2015.
