2016 saw the continuation of a beer volume sales decline. Excise tax on beer was increased further from UAH1.24 per litre to UAH2.48 per litre. Beer producers did not refrain from price increases in 2016, which adversely impacted volume sales of beer. Due to the still low purchasing power of consumers, sales of beer declined further.
