In 2016 growth in sales of soup was boosted by continual price promotions and the offer of extra volume.

Leading players such as Unilever de México S de RL de CV (Knorr) and Conservas La Costeña SA de CV (Campbell’s) offered price discounts on their brands and two units for the price of one. The latter also offered 33% extra volume in some of its shelf stable soups for brand Campbell’s and the Unilever offered versions of Knorr brand dehydrated soup with 20% extra pasta.
