Uzbekistan’s economy grew below trend in 2020 but it was still one of the best performers in the region and as a result COVID-19 did not have as severe an impact on the country as its neighbours. Retailing value sales registered double-digit value growth, though it was half the growth rate of 2019. Also, part of this value growth was due to high inflation, but again it was lower than in 2019.
