This IDC study explores in a comparative perspective the different types of multi-bundle offers available in the Western Europe telecom market. Nine mobile operators from nine Western European countries are selected to evaluate the development of multiplay services, with a special focus on quad play. The analysis aims to outline the drivers and inhibitors of the quad-play market and their implications for the players involved.
"The quad-play business is increasingly becoming the standard in Europe, although to a very different extent across the countries selected," said Melissa Fremeijer, senior research analyst, IDC Telecom and Networking. "In particular, for most of the cases analyzed, it is still hard to foresee the success and sustainability of multiplay offerings in the longer term. This is especially true for those countries where the converged trend has started only recently to affect the market. Overall IDC foresees a high level of dynamism in this market in the near future as well as expanding opportunities for operators to gain a broader subscriber base."
