The regulation of credit cards was dramatically tightened in Turkey in 2014. From February 2014, all newly issued credit cards had credit limits capped at twice the cardholder’ s monthly personal income for the first year, with this cap subsequently raised to four times the level of monthly income. This is furthermore a combined cap for all credit cards held by one cardholder. The government also banned the purchase of food, gasoline, gift cards, mobile phones and other telecommunications goods...
