Ghana had 2.7 million TV households, a household penetration of 60%, by the end of 2014. The number of pay-TV households was low at 194,000, a mere 7% of the total TV households. Ghana awarded an $82.6m DTT contract to K-NET, a Ghanaian-based technology firm, which is expected to deploy the DTT infrastructure in three phases over nine months. The government has extended the official digital migration deadline to March 2016. Ovum projects that Ghana will have slightly more than 3.5 million TV households, a household penetration for TV of 70%, by the end of 2019, when 260,000 households will be taking pay TV, a household penetration of 7%, essentially unchanged from 2014.
