The Brazilian economy was evolving faster than the other BRIC countries until 2013. However, the impacts of corruption and poor administration finally started to appear and the country’s indicators have worsened considerably in 2014 and 2015, culminating in the loss of ‘investment grade’. The economy shrank 3.8% in 2015 with GDP amounting to US$ 1.3 trillion. Breakdown of GDP and the population of nearly 203 million people shows considerable differences across the geographic regions and only a few industries seem to be growing for the past year. Certain social indicators improved but inflation has soared and economic disparities have increased to concerning levels.
This report briefly analysis the Brazilian economy and discusses the subject of social and economic indicators, geographic breakdown and life quality in the country, along with other related analyses.
