Dental air compressors pressurize air for use in handpieces and other instruments during dental procedures. These compressors capture and compress oxygen, clean and dry the gas and then store it away to be used when handsets, drills and other types of units that need clean compressed air to function are activated. Air from compressors is also used to dry the tooth surface, when bonding composites for example. Some manufacturers, like Aseptico, produce portable compressors that allow practitioners to perform procedures in remote locations.Growth in the dental air compressor market has been governed by similar factors and trends. Similarly, little incentive exists for practices to replace or upgrade their functioning systems since there has been little technological advancement in this area, with the exception of oil-less technology. High upfront costs have restricted the replacement of functioning oil-based compressors with oil-less compressors. Growth in this segment will be driven by the growing number of dental practices over the forecast period. This market is therefore expected to grow at a CAGR slightly lower than that of the suction system market.
