A blood coagulation analyzer is a testing device used in clinical laboratories to test the coagulation efficacy of blood and assess bleeding disorders such as hemophilia, Von Willebrand disease (type 1, type 2, and type 3), Factor V Leiden thrombophilia disorder, polycythemia, leukemia, thrombus, and thrombocytopenia. The device is also used to diagnose patients with hemostatic disorders (both congenital and acquired) or identify the condition of thrombosis to treat and reduce complications. Additionally, the device is used to monitor patients who take anticoagulant medicines such as heparin, aspirin, and warfarin due to their side effects. For instance, heparin has to be constantly monitored to prevent the abrupt closing of any coronary artery or bypass graft.
Blood coagulation analyzers are used in many places, such as physician offices, group practices, emergency rooms, operating and recovery suites, ICUs/CCUs, cancer clinics, ambulatory care centers, surgery centers, nursing homes, and birth centers. Vendors are increasingly opting for portable POC coagulation solutions, which help users conduct tests and deliver results at the patient's home. This has led to reductions in cost due to less traveling and time as users do not have to wait for outside lab results to arrive, which is critical for any treatment.
