Tube feeding can be given to individuals, who are not ready to meet their wholesome needs, with food and beverages, and are not vulnerable to go through uncontrollable vomiting, or looseness of the bowels.
Parenteral nutrition can be given to those patients whose daily nutritional requirement cannot be met through the normal digestive pathway, while they are not able to eat, digest and consume nutrients. Parenteral nutrition refers to intravenous feeding and delivery of nutrients in form of a solution that is directly infused into the bloodstream, through a special catheter and tubing.
