The project involves the construction of mixed-use facilities with a minimum of 1882 housing units comprising 992 apartments and 890 terrace style townhouses and up to 45,000m2 of retail and commercial space on 24ha of land. The project will be developed in stages which also includes construction of market hall, cinema complex, health facilities, tavern and community center and more than 120 retail shops.
In July 2013, UGN requested expressions of interest (EOIs), with a submission deadline of August 22, 2013.
The EOI phase is set to create a shortlist of potential development partners from submitted EOI applications and thereby check the development’s viability.
In August 2014, UGN started a two-stage sale process to select a preferred bidder to purchase and develop the project.
The tender campaign was managed by Savills and Matrix Property on behalf of UrbanGrowth NSW. The tender process closed on March 27, 2015.
On August 26, 2015, UrbanGrowth NSW confirmed that Australand, a member of the Frasers Centrepoint Group, had been awarded the tender for the purchase and development of the Edmondson Park Town Centre project in southwest Sydney.
Under the terms, Frasers paid more than US$70 million for the site from NSW UrbanGrowth. Frasers is now set to lodge a planning application to the government.
JBA Urban Planning Consultants Pty Ltd was appointed as the planner for the project.
In June, 2017, construction activities on sales center and cafe commenced.
