The Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (UJVNL) is undertaking the construction of Vyasi Hydroelectric Power Plant project on Yamuna River in Uttarakhand, India.

The project involves the construction of 120MW (2X60MW) hydroelectric power plant.

It includes the construction of an 86m tall concrete gravity dam, a 2.7km head race tunnel of 7.0m diameter, a surface powerhouse, a substation, the installation of two semi umbrella generators of 60MW each, two Vertical Francis turbines, and the laying of transmission lines.

UJVNL submitted reviewed report of the project to Central Power Authority in July 2010 and techno-economic approval was granted in October, 2011.

In August 2012, Forest Advisory Committee approval secured.

In October 2013, National Projects Construction Corporation Ltd (NPCC) was appointed as contractor for the construction of powerhouse and Gammon India Ltd as construction contractor for civil works.

In November 2013, construction work on the project commenced.

In March 2014, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) was awarded US$20 million contract to design, manufacture, supply, install and commission the hydro generating sets and associated electromechanical works.

In anuary 2017, 40% of construction activities has been completed.

Construction activities are underway and scheduled to be completed by December 2018.

Scope
The project involves the construction of 120MW (2X60MW) power plant on Yamuna River in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand, India.
