Amec Foster Wheeler has been appointed as the consultant, Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP as financial advisor, Ramboll UK as technical advisor and DWF LLP as the legal advisor.

On October 1, 2015, ACC submitted a proposal of application notice (PAN) for the project.

On October 3, 2016, the ACC’s planning development management committee voted 8-to-5 to defer a decision on the project.

The project secured planning approvals on October 28, 2016. The decision to approve the project follows a period of public engagement which included public events, stakeholder groups, and a public hearing.

In late October 2016, Aberdeenshire Council, Aberdeen City Council, and The Moray Council have signed an agreement to fund the project. The agreement will see the three authorities work together on the initial project and procurement development work on the proposed facility.

In January 2017, demolition works commenced.

On February 3, 2017, ACC with AC and MC issued the request for qualification (RFQ) to undertake the design.

Pre-Tender activities are underway. The preferred bidders are expected to be disclosed by April 2018 and the contract is expected to be awarded in the third quarter of 2018.

Subject to the appointment of contractor, construction works are scheduled to begin in January 2019 and expected to complete in August 2021.
