On March 27, 2015, Madhya Pradesh high court ordered stay on canal work in the irrigated areas, due to the issues of social and environmental impacts, lack of rehabilitation, unnecessary excavation of canals in irrigated villages and severe crop losses. The project is facing delay due to the legal issues.
