City of Joondalup (CoJ) is planning to undertake the Performing Arts and Cultural Facility (JPACF) project in Joondalup, Western Australia.
The project involves the construction of a performing arts and cultural facility on a 10,000m2 area. It will include the construction of a 550-seat lyric theater, a 200 seat flexible “black box” theater, a foyer, a bar/restaurant and ancillary spaces, dressing rooms, rehearsal and function spaces, an under croft parking facility and related infrastructure facilities.
In July 2013, CoJ received conceptual designs for the proposed facility from qualified local and international architects and four designs were shortlisted.
The four shortlisted architects are ARM Architecture, Cook Robotham Architectural Bureau & Iredale Pedersen Hook, Cox Howlett & Bailey Woodland and Kerry Hill Architects.
On November 21, 2013, ARM Architecture awarded as the architect by an eight-member independent design competition jury.
In June 2016, the City council granted US$8.5 million to advance the Joondalup Performing Arts and Cultural Facility (JPACF).
On February 16, 2017, CoJ commenced public consultation activities which will continue till March 30, 2017.
In June 2017, CoJ is reviewing the final investment decision.
Planning activities are underway.
