National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is undertaking the upgrade a highway section on NH-6 in Odisha, India.

The project involves the rehabilitation and upgrade of 366km highway (between 200km and 566km of NH-6) to four lanes.

The project includes the construction of road lanes, supporting walls, carriageways, service roads, road separators, pedestrian ways, toll stations and the installation of signaling systems.

The project will be implemented in different packages: Package I includes the upgrade of 111.6km highway between Baharagora to Singhara. Package II includes the upgrade of 104km highway between Singhara to Binjabahal.

Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats Pvt. Ltd (ICT Pvt. Ltd) has been appointed to undertake traffic survey, analysis and projections for the proposed section and to prepare detailed project report (DPR).

In November 2013, request for qualification (RFQ) was issued for package II.

In April 2014, NHAI pre-qualified nine bidders for Package II on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (BOT/DBFOT) basis.

The nine pre-qualified bidders are IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd; SREI ARSS Consortium; Dilip Buildcon Ltd; IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd; Oriental Structural Engineers Private Ltd; Sunil Hitech Engineers Ltd and State Construction Integrated Works of Administrative Department of Verkhovna Rada Ukraine; Ashoka Concessions Ltd; Sadbhav Engineering Ltd; BSCPL Infrastructure Ltd.

On December 03, 2014, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved Package II to implement in Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) (Toll) mode on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (BOT/DBFOT) basis.

In December 2014, NHAI invited request for proposal (RFP) from the pre-qualified bidders for Package II.

In July 2015, L&T constructions Ltd was awarded US$200 million EPC contract for Package I of the project.

On November 3, 2016, NHAI re-issued RFP for Package II on Hybrid Annuity basis with the submission deadline on December 5, 2016.

Montecarlo Ltd. has been selected as the contractor for the Package II of the project.

On October 21, 2017, construction works are commenced on package 1.

Construction activities on Package I and Pre-construction activities on Package II are underway.

The project involves the rehabilitation and upgrades of a 366km highway on NH-6 from Baharagora to Sambalpur in Odisha, India.
