BMW De Mexico, SA de CV, Mexican subsidiary of German automotive firm BMW is planning to develop a new car manufacturing plant project in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

The project involves the construction of a car manufacturing unit. It also includes construction of an assembly unit, a body shop, a paint shop, warehouses, parking places and related infrastructure, and installation of machines, safety and security measures and other equipment.

The factory will have the production capacity of 150,000 units.

Aecom Technology Corporation (Aecom) was appointed as master planner and project management for design, construction management, and start-up services.

Axioma is appointed as contractor for site preparation work on the project.

Constructora Chufani is appointed as the construction contractor on the project. He will be responsible to build the body shop and ancillary building.

On June 16, 2016, Groundbreaking ceremony was done by the BMW group on the new plant.

Construction works are scheduled to complete by the end of 2018.
