The Nablus Municipality (MoN) is undertaking the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Nablus East, Palestine.

The project involves the construction of a central waste water treatment plant to serve the eastern part of Nablus city and six surrounding villages of Azmut, Salem, Deir Al-Hatab, Kafer Qalil, Rujeeb and Beit Furik.

The project includes the construction of pumping stations, a water storage facility, conveyance pipelines, intake and outlet pipelines, sedimentation tank, biochemical reaction tank and air blower room and related facilities.

The project features new collection systems and extension of existing collection systems.

On September 18, 2013, the Palestinian Authority (PA), the European Union (EU) and the German Government signed a US$53 million agreement to construct the plant in East Nablus. According to the agreement, the EU will provide US$25 million contribution, the German government will provide US$28 million contribution as well as MoN will provide US$4 million contribution which will be implemented via the German KfW Development Bank.

In March 2015, technical discussions were held regarding the project.

Construction activities are underway.
