Summary
PT PLN (Persero) (PLN) is planning to construct an overhead transmission line from Java to Bali in Indonesia.

The project involves the construction of a 500kV, 220km transmission line with the capacity to transmit 1,500MW.

The project includes the construction of a 500/150kV substation in Antosari, Bali, the upgrade of eleven 150/20kV substations and related infrastructure, the installation of transformers and power control units, and the laying of transmission lines.

The project will be developed in packages with respective Lots as follows.

Package 1, Lot 1, involves laying of 500kV overhead Transmission Lines from Paiton to Watudodol, which is estimated to cost US$78.8 million.

Package 1, Lot 2, involves laying of 500kV overhead Transmission Lines from Gillimanuk to Anlosari, which is estimated to cost US$47.8 million.

Package 2, Lot 1, involves extension of Paiton Substation, which is estimated to cost US$31 million.

Package 2, Lot 2, involves construction of a New Antosari Substation, which is estimated to cost US$54.1 million.

Package 3, Lot 1 and Lot 2, involves installation of substation equipment, which is estimated to cost US$9.8 million each.

In December 2013, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided US$224 million loan for a 20-year period.

The project received a US$25 million loan from the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund (AIF) and remaining US$161 million will be financed by the government.

On April 21, 2014, PLN invited bids for Design, Supply and Installation for Package 1, Package 2, and Package 3 with June 24, 2014 as deadline for Package 2 and 3 and October 3, 2014 for Package 1.

On August 4, 2015, Newjec Inc was appointed as lead consultant for the project.

On August 13, 2015, Bid was opened for Package 3.

As of July 2016, tender process is underway and Bid Evaluation Report for Package 1, 2 and 3 are yet to be approved by ADB.

On April 21, 2017, MoU was signed between PLN and Applied Material Inc. for the supply of electrical equipment.

PLN is in the process of selecting construction contractor.
