Wintershall Energía S.A. (Wintershall), a subsidiary of BASF, in association with Agora Developments Ltd (Agora), Bayerngas Norge AS (Bayerngas), Edison Properties (Edison) and RWE Dea AG is planning to undertake the Skarfjell oil field development project in Norway.

The project involves the development of an oil field with a capacity ranging 120 to 230 million barrels of oil.

It includes the construction of oil storage facility, feeder networks, pumping stations, drilling of wells, the installation of compressors, drillers and the laying of pipelines.

In February 2012, planning consent for the project was obtained.

In January 2014, the drilling work of the appraisal wells has been completed to examine thickness, properties, fluid content and depth to the Upper Jurassic reservoir.

In June 2016, Tendeka was appointed as to supply completions systems and services.

In February 2017, Wintershall submitted its proposed development concept for the Skarfjell field to Norwegian authorities. That is due to be followed by a final investment decision, leading to a plan for development and operations being submitted to Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum & Energy.

In February 2018, Wintershall awarded Subsea Production System (SPS) contract to Aker Solutions and Pipeline and Subsea Construction (PSC) contract to Subsea 7 Norway AS with the worth of US$230 million.

Aker Solutions scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of Nova SPS, it consists of two template manifolds with their respective trees and well systems and provides integrated service umbilical and the subsea control system.

Subsea 7 Norway AS scope of work includes the engineering procurement construction installation (EPCI) delivery of the four pipelines that link Nova field to Gjøa platform.It also includes two pipes in pipe production flowlines, riser base structures, a water injection pipeline and the pipeline that supply lift gas to the field.

Subsea 7 also responsible for installing the Aker supplied SPS structures, including the subsea templates, subsea manifolds, control umbilicals and auxiliary equipment.

Planning activities are underway and development and operational plans for the project are scheduled to bbe submitted in the first half of 2018.
