Stevenage Borough Council (SBC) is planning to undertake the Stevenage Town Center Regeneration Project in Hertfordshire, the UK.

The project involves the construction of a town centre on a 19ha of land.The project includes the construction of a new rail station, 3,600 new homes, 65,032m2 office space, 23,996m2 retail space, three 4-star hotels, a new community hub and parking and related facilities.

The project will be developed in phases.

On June 16, 2016, Stevenage First signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the SBC.The agreement marks Stevenage First’s role to promote and co-ordinate development.

The next step will include plans for the refurbishment of Stevenage train station and neighboring sites.

The development partners are now planning the first phase of regeneration which includes 850 new homes, a revitalized town center with 9,000m2 of new retail and leisure use, improved public realm and a new public sector hub with 21st-century health provision and a modern library

As of July 2016, a planning application was submitted and withdrawn.

The project secured US$17 million funding from the Government via Growth Deal and have carried out various studies that will provide confidence to enable development to go ahead.

In November 2016, the project seeking US$60 million to replace the existing outdated and inadequate rail station.

In February 2018, Mace appointed as an associate developer for the project. Mace will work up designs and submit plans for approval towards the end of 2018 with an aim to start construction in 2019.
