The City of Columbus (CoC), through the Department of Public Utilities, is planning for expansion of Blacklick Creek Sanitary Interceptor Tunnel in Ohio, the US.

The project involves the construction of a 2,134m long sanitary interceptor sewer tunnel, which will be 3m or 3.6m in diameter and 12m to 42m deep and to be constructed by open cut method, from Reynoldsburg to New Albany Road corridor and extends from Blacklick Ridge Boulevard, north to Morse Road. It also includes the construction of four in-line access shafts along with an optional maintenance access shaft.

EMH&T Inc., AECOM, Aldea, Eagon and H.R. Gray were appointed as design consultants.

Hatch Chester engineers, Black and Veatch with iTunnel inc, Dynotec, H.R. Gray, Prime were appointed as Construction Managers.

The CoC is anticipating a loan from the Ohio Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) in December 2015.

On September 14, 2015, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) granted an approval for environmental assessment.

On November 4, 2015, the CoC issued tender documents for the construction of a sanitary sewer tunnel by open cut and tunneling methods and includes access shafts, hydraulic drop structures, passive odor control vault, interceptor sewer and appurtenances with a submission deadline of November 18, 2015.

In First Quarter 2016, Blacklick Constructors LLC has been appointed as Construction Contractors.

On September 26, 2016, CoC provided supplemental information for request from American Iron and Steel provisions to Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for project designs.

Planning activities are underway and construction works are expected to start in third quarter of 2018.
