Summary
The Government of South Africa (GoSA) is undertaking the development of water supply scheme in Kimberley, Northern Cape, South Africa.

The project involves the construction of a vaal gamagara water supply scheme. It will be developed in phases.

The phase 1 includes replacing the existing pipeline with a 0.9m pipeline from Roscoe to the south west expansion project 7.8km, the existing pipeline with a 0.7 and 0.8m 82.6km pipeline from Kathu to Hotazel and 0.6m pipeline to Black Rock.

The phase 2.1 includes the replacing the pipeline from Clifton to Roscoe, development of sd2 and sd4 well sites.

The phase 2.2 includes the replacing the pipeline between Beeshoek and Glouchester, refurbish rising main from water treatment works to Clifton, upgrade of reservoirs, trewill pump stations and sump and development of sd1 well site.

Phase 2.3 includes the replacing of third rising main.

Phase 2.4 includes the upgrade and refurbishing of vaal gamagara water treatment works and pump stations and upgrade of kneukel pump station and sump.

The project includes the construction of a 430km pipeline from Delpoortshoop to Black Rock, refurbishment of the existing Vaal Gamagara Water Treatment Plant near Delpoortshoop, upgrade of pump stations, and equipping of three borehole sites in Danielskuil, Groenwater and Hotazel to augment water supplied from the Vaal River.

In July 2007, the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry appointed Sedibeng Water as a management and operation consultant.

On February 7, 2016, GoSA issued tender for the first phase with the submission deadline on March 8, 2016.

In October 2016, GoSA appointed Group Five Ltd as the contractor.

Construction works are underway.
