Summary
Derby City Council (DCC) is undertaking the construction of an integrated waste treatment facility in Derbyshire, the UK.

The project involves the construction of a thermal conversion waste facility with a capacity to process 190,000 tons of household waste a year. It includes the construction of a 55n high chimney, a compost center, a cooling plant, raw materials storage areas, the installation of sewer pipelines and electricity supply lines.

The plant will use gasification process, treating refuse with heat, producing gas which is then burned to provide power, and turning the waste into ash. The proposed gasification plant will export 8MW of green electricity.

In December 2008, Resource Recovery Solutions (Derbyshire) Ltd (RRS), a joint venture between United Utilities and Interserve awarded design, build and operation (DBO) contract of the new waste treatment facility for a duration of 27 years and ENERGOS was appointed as technology provider for the project in January 2009.

In May 2009, a planning application for the project was submitted and in 2010, the planning application was rejected and a new planning application was re-submitted to concern authorities in June 2012.
