The New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDoT) is undertaking the construction of Bridge Rehabilitation project in New York, the US.

The project involves the rehabilitation of a 1,833m Brooklyn Suspension Bridge with reconstruction of the entire length of Tillary Street, from Cadman Plaza West to Navy Street, adjacent portions of Adams Street and from the bridge to Tech Place.

The project will include the construction of the surfacing over the bridge’s masonry arch blocks, new drainage system, support structures, and seismic retrofitting, the expansion of first ramp connecting the exit from the bridge, second ramp, connecting the southbound FDR Drive with the approach to bridge’s Brooklyn-bound lanes and third ramp, connecting the bridge’s Brooklyn-bound lanes to Cadman Plaza West and Old Fulton Street in Brooklyn Heights, and the installation of waterproofing seal and slabs of pavement in segments, repainting the bridge’s steel, the steel decks on the approach ramps will be removed in sections and replaced panel by panel with precast concrete-filled steel.

ENTECH ENGINEERING, P.C. has been appointed as surveyor.

NYCDoT will secure US$30 million from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), New York City capital funds will finance US$286 million and the remaining US$192 million by other federal funding sources.

In October 2009, Skanska USA Building Inc. was appointed as main contractor for the project.

On June 2, 2010, construction works commenced and are underway.

The project involves the rehabilitation of the 1,833m Brooklyn suspension bridge at Brooklyn, in New York City, the US.

The US$811 million project includes the following:
1. Reconstruction of pedestrian ways
2. Redevelopment of public transport systems
3. Replacement of steel decks with precast concrete-filled steel
