Palm Paper Ltd (PPL), a subsidiary of Papierfabrik Palm, is undertaking to construct a CCGT power plant in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, the UK.

The project involves the construction of a 162MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant on 5,000m2 of land. It includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation, and related infrastructure facilities, the installation of turbines and generators, and the laying of transmission lines.

DHA Planning has been appointed as a planning consultant; BHM Holding GmbH as a design consultant for surface drainage system; MüllerBBM to conduct noise and vibration investigations; Fichtner Consulting to conduct air quality investigations for the project; Eproplan as the architect and designer; PCU Planning & Environmental Consultants Ltd to prepare environmental impact assessment (EIA) and Environmental Permit application preparation, baseline data, providing input to planning strategy, planning application and regulatory consultation.

On August 20, 2012, PPL submitted the environmental statement to the Planning Inspectorate.

In January 2013, a public consultation was held on the project plans.

A Draft Construction Environmental Management Plan was submitted to the Planning Inspectorate (PINS) on February 10, 2014; and the development consent order (DCO) application was submitted on September 24, 2014.

On October 20, 2014, PINS accepted the PPL’s application for DCO to authorize the construction, operation, and maintenance of CCGT generating station.

On February 11, 2016, PPL secured development consent from the Secretary of State. PPL has submitted an application for an environmental permit which has been accepted by the Environment Agency.

In March 2016, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change has given approvals.

On September 12, 2017, topping out ceremony was held.

Construction activities are underway.

The project involves the construction of a 162MW CCGT power plant on 5,000m2 of land at Saddlebow Industrial Estate in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, the UK.

The US$62 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of a powerhouse
